Holiday Season and traditional art
17.12.2024I mostly paint digital except for some sketches in my sketchbook here and there but every year around christmas I pack out my acrylics and watercolors to make some presents and learn all over again exactly why I don't like painting traditional.
It's just all the little inconveniences. Having to make sure to have proper lighting, not being able to easily fix mistakes, things just taking longer.
Arcane makes me go brr
14.12.2024
Arcane season 2 coming out gave me a big push in art motivation and I think I am now getting to the point again where that
is calming down back to usual.
Like I do still have quite a few fanart painting ideas I want to make but I don't feel this itch to make them anymore. It's now
just like "yeah I want to paint that" and not "I need to get this out of my system" if that makes any sense.
So I will still get to those paintings, but I won't rush to make them probably.
With that and all the painting studies I made I started trying to lean more into a painterly artstyle. And I like it on some level
but I feel like my paintings often came out looking unfinished.
Which I think is largely due to them being pretty rough.
I want to spend more time in the early stages of a painting to clean things up more and make more of a plan. I think that might help.
Also I've been really slacking off with working on my game (The Slumbering Sword) and I need to get back into that more.
I think I might have settled on an artstyle that's a little to ambitious for me but I do want to see it through now, partially
because I do believe I can manage it. It's more that I'm a bit intimidated to work on it I guess.
